Woodbridge Museum - a chronological journey through the town's history

Woodbridge MuseumA Small, friendly museum with exhibits reflecting the history of Woodbridge and its townspeople, including Thomas Seckford and Edward Fitzgerald.

There is a permanent exhibit complementing the Anglo-Saxon site at Sutton Hoo and another for Burrow Hill.

Children are well catered for with carefully drawn-up activity sheets, available on request.

Een klein museum met tentoonstelling over de geschiedenis van Woodbridge en mensen, ondermeer Thomas Seckford en Edward Fitzgerald. Der is een permanente tentoonstelling over de plaasten van Sutton Hoo en Burrow Hill. Kinderen zijn welkom en werkschriften kunnen verder verkregen worden op aanvraag.

Ein kleines Museum mit Exponaten, die die Geschichte von Woodbridge und seinen einwohnern -einschliesslich von Thomas Seckford und Edward Fitzgerald- erzaehlen. Es gibt eine permanente Ausstellung ueber Angelsaechsische Staetten in Sutton Hoo und Burrow Hill. Auf Wunsch kuemmern wir uns um die Kinder, fuer die wir ein Programm mit gesonderten Aktivitaeten bereit halten.

Ce petit musee, avec ses objets exposes, offre au visiteur une belle impression de la grande histoire de Woodbridge et ses habitants - y compris Thomas Seckford et Edward Fitzgerald. On present, en permanence, une exposition au sujet des sites Anglo-Saxons de Sutton Hoo et Burrow Hill. Pour les enfants, le musee a prepare attentivement une questionnaire educative qu'on peut demander.


Colourful and varied displays reflect the history and life of Woodbridge and its townspeople - including the Elizabethan lawyer and benefactor Thomas Seckford, the painter Thomas Churchyard and the translator Edward FitzGerald.

Anglo Saxon life is illustrated with some of the items found at Burrow Hill and by the ship burial at Sutton Hoo. Changes from then until the present day are described century by century by displays that encompass trade, roads, housing, religion and education.

There is an audio-visual display of the most interesting photographs from the Museum's collection.

The Museum sells souvenirs to suit many tastes and pockets, and provides free activity sheets relating to the exhibits for children of all ages.

Opening Times: Easter to the end of October - Thursday to Sunday and Bank Holidays 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Daily during school holidays.
